Moss Electrical completes £3m sale of Canning town premises and invests in UK Solar Market

Moss Electrical, one of the UK’s largest independent Electrical Wholesalers with a turnover of £35million has recently announced the sale of its Canning town facility where the company operated from 1992 – 2008. As the business grew it soon became apparent that the Canning town facility could not adequately support the growing operations of the business and in January 2008 the Directors of Moss Electrical made a £10,000,000 investment and decided to relocate their head quarters in Canning town East London to a 150,000 sq ft distribution facility in Dartford, Kent. The centrally located facility in Dartford provided Moss with a significantly enhanced platform, to service their growing client base across London and the whole of the South East.

Over the past 6 years the Board of Directors have been working closely with Cathedral Group Plc to develop the Caxton Street North site, incorporating 336 flats and 14 light industry/restaurant units. After completing the sale Managing Director, Robert Moss commented, “The sale of our Canning town premises has bolstered our balance sheet significantly allowing us to make several R&D investments into the residential and commercial Solar PV market.  We aim to introduce a leading range of Solar PV products to our portfolio very shortly.

Moss Electrical have also been appointed as sole UK distributors by Suzhou Hosola New Energy Co Ltd, a Chinese manufacturer of Solar Inverters.  Robert Moss further commented “We are obviously very pleased with this appointment; our residential solar experience allows us to deliver both service and quality to the UK’s Solar marketplace.” The multi-year deal covers Hosola’s full range of Inverters 2500TL – 4200TL all complete with a ten year product warranty.  Lindsay Goubel, Operations Director commented. "This new agreement allows Moss to offer solar installers a comprehensive range of Inverters across both the residential and commercial sectors.”

Eric Zhang Managing Director of Hosola New Energy Co said “We are delighted with the signing of this unique  partnership with Moss which will enable us to extend our coverage into the United Kingdom reaffirming our growth strategy. We are continually striving to select marketing leading partners with regards to our international development objectives."

Moss Receive FORS Bronze Award

Moss Electrical Co. Ltd has been successful in gaining bronze accreditation from the Transport for London Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme.

FORS is a voluntary scheme for fleet operators. Its purpose is to raise the level of quality within fleet operations, and to demonstrate which operators are achieving the standards. FORS is a method of recognising those fleet operations which comply with the requirements of the FORS standard. The FORS standard is based upon legal compliance, safety, efficiency and environmental protection.

In order to achieve bronze status, Moss had to undergo an independent assessment of its operations to demonstrate that it has effective systems, policies, and procedures in place to meet standards in four areas: drivers & driver management, vehicle & fleet management, transport operations and performance management.

Moss Transport Manager Kerr Williams said: “The FORS membership is recognition of the continued improvements we have made within the company.”

“Our fleet operation is a major part of the Moss Electrical service and over the past six months we have invested heavily in improving our transport operations.”

"As a member of the FORS scheme we now have access to a wide range of services, advice and additional training which will help us to make even greater improvements in the future."

See http://www.fors-online.org.uk/ for more information about the Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
